Lara has been part of the Barclays International events team for 2 years, working across the business to bring their content, brand and values to life through client and colleague events. Her responsibilities include content planning, venue and production management, conference design and delegate management. With 8 years of hands-on event experience she moved on to deliver two Olympic sponsor programmes, before swapping the fast-paced sports industry for in-house corporate events roles within Financial Services. Since graduating, Lara initially worked for a (prestigious) London events caterer delivering International sponsor, corporate and private client events alongside Formula 1 Grand Prix. Lara Broggini is an experienced events professional with over 15 years’ events management experience across various industries including sports, telecoms and financial services. Hear from Figen and former National Counter Terrorism Co-ordinator Nick Aldworth why the fundamental counter terror security measures outlined in Martyn’s Law have to become mandatory rather than discretionary, for the protection of us all. Having initially garnered the support of Mayor of Manchester, now the Prime Minister, Home Secretary and Security Minister have all declared their support for Martyn’s Law. Venues and organisers have a duty of care to their visitors and delegates and currently, counter terrorism measures across venues as well as training for venue and organiser staff is sketchy and inconsistent. Figen is calling on Venue Operators and Event Organisers to instate a common standard of counter terrorism precautions across venues and events. Now Figen is striving to create a lasting legacy for her son, a legacy of improved and permanent public safety through Martyn’s Law. Martyn’s was one of 22 lives lost in the Manchester Arena bombing. On 22nd May 2017, Figen’s son Martyn went to a concert and never came home.
